Jim Mattis

Jim Mattis serves on Mary's Woods Board of Directors as a Resident Representative.

Jim is a retired attorney. He worked over 40 years, first as the Research Attorney at the University of Oregon’s Bureau of Governmental Research & Service; then, as an Assistant Attorney General in the Oregon Department of Justice and finally as Legal Counsel at the Oregon Health & Sciences University.

Jim was a long-time contributor to the Oregon State Bar’s Continuing Education programs and was a founder and a President of the Oregon Law Institute. He has served as the Chair of the city of West Linn’s Planning Commission and on the City Council and the city’s Historic Review Board. He was a founder of the Willamette Falls & Landings Heritage Area Coalition and is its immediate Past President and is the immediate Past President of the Advocates for Willamette Falls Heritage. He remains on both of those Boards of Directors. Jim has also served as Chair, President, or member of various non-profit, local & state boards & commissions as well as faith-based organizations.

He and his wife Mary have called Mary’s Woods home for five years and feel blessed that their two daughters and families are close by in West Linn. Soon.
