Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes called a Life Plan Community, a CCRC (or continuing care retirement community) is a type of senior living community offering independent living along with a continuum of health care on one campus. The levels of care usually include:
- Assisted living: Daily help with personal activities including grooming, bathing, meal preparation and ambulation
- Memory Care: Specialized programs in a secure setting for those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias
- Rehabilitation: Therapies and treatments that support recovery after injury, illness or surgery.
If there’s ever a change in your health, you won’t need to move to another community. A full continuum of care is available on the Mary’s Wood’s campus, and you’ll already know and trust the caregivers in the community.
For couples, this is especially helpful. If one of them moves into care, the other stays close. It’s also easier to ensure that a loved one is receiving the services they need to thrive and stay as independent as possible.
Long-term care insurance is an insurance policy purchased by a resident through a private insurance company. A long-term care policy can be used to help cover the cost of long-term care and, in some cases, assisted living.
Mary’s Woods doesn’t bill long-term care insurance directly; however, we’re happy to help residents with the necessary information for reimbursement. Check with your insurance provider for the specifics of your coverage.
