Janet Satterlee

Janet Satterlee, Director of Spiritual Care

Janet has been active in ministry for over 20 years beginning when her daughter, her youngest, started kindergarten and she entered a Masters program at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. with a focus on theology and ministry. While still in that program Janet got her first ministry job as a High School Theology teacher and Campus Minister, a job that she loved!  Janet will never forget those first days at Xavier HS when she experienced the profound difference of serving in a mission-centered organization. She felt blessed by the practice of opening each activity with prayer, of considering mission as she shepherded her students and families, of knowing that the community was joined by a shared purpose. She has served in mission focused organizations ever since. After Xavier, her family answered a call to serve as long-term missionaries in La Ceiba, Honduras. Janet lived as part of an intentional Catholic community supporting and educating children experiencing poverty. Returning to the states, Janet’s family moved to Portland and she entered Clinical Pastoral Education, the training for Chaplains, at Providence Portland Medical Center. After she completed the program Providence offered her a position as a staff Chaplain, and then God led Janet to Mary’s Woods where she now serves as the Director of Spiritual Care. Janet is grateful every day to have the opportunity to walk with members of our community, offering support and care as they move along their unique spiritual path.
