Mary's WoodsA Place for Mom ranks Mary’s Woods #2 among nation’s best University Based Retirement Communities (UBRC)

For many Mary’s Woods residents, lifelong learning is an essential part of healthy aging. Topics such as health care, gerontology, science and policy issues are just a few examples of the types of classes residents are eager to explore.

Our unique partnership with neighboring Marylhurst University, where residents participate in classroom offerings and serve as mentors to students and faculty members, has recently thrust us into the national spotlight. Citing proximity to campus, formalized educational opportunities, alumni base and a strong relationship between university and community, A Place for Mom, one of the largest senior living referral services in the U.S. and Canada, has ranked Mary’s Woods among the top university-based retirement communities in America.

On their Senior Living blog, Mary’s Woods was singled out for offering residents “free computer classes, a complimentary iPad on move-in and steep discounts on tuition for classes at neighboring Marylhurst University” as reasons for the top 5 ranking.

“Our mission has always been to support life-long learning opportunities,” said Mary’s Woods CEO Marvin Kaiser. “It’s great to see our community honored for facilitating educational excellence as it relates to senior living.”
