Mary’s Woods Installs Hearing Loop

July 6, 2018

To better serve residents who need assistance with hearing, Mary’s Woods has installed a Hearing Loop in the Provincial House auditorium. A hearing loop (sometimes called an audio induction loop) is a special type of sound system for use by people with hearing aids. The hearing loop provides a magnetic, wireless signal that is picked up by the hearing aid when it is set to the ‘T’ (Telecoil) setting. Audio that is transmitted through the loop includes the microphones as well as any audio accompanying movies or any other event occurring in the auditorium.

Other options are available on campus for the hearing impaired: the chapel, social lounge, and auditorium. All offer the ability for residents to wear a special belt-loop receiver and headphones to hear audio from the PA systems in these spaces. Limited numbers of units are available.
