Eagle Scout Builds Nativity Scene for MRC

January 8, 2018

For the last 13 years Hank Knowlen, MRC activities manager, has dreamed of installing a seasonal Nativity Scene in front of the Marie Rose Center. This year that dream came true.

Thanks to Susan and John Foy who donated the Nativity figurines, and Eagle Scout Evan Clark who built the manger and assembled the display as part of a Scout project, residents of the Marie Rose Center now have a beautiful Nativity Scene to welcome guests each Christmas season.

“We are all so very proud and appreciative of Evan’s efforts,” said Diane Hood, Mary’s Woods CEO. “This Nativity Scene will be a cherished part of Mary’s Woods for years to come.”

Evan, 17 years old and in 12th grade, attends Lakeridge High School. Only 2% of all Scouts that start the program achieve the rank of Eagle. With the help of volunteers from Troop 230 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Lake Oswego, he organized the fundraisers needed to obtain the funds, purchased the materials and organized the work parties for the building and installation of the Nativity at the MRC.

The scene was blessed by Sr. Barbara Collier.
