Announcing the 2015-2016 Concert Schedule

December 6 Holiday Special – Affiniti & Howard Crosby (SOLD OUT)
Think lovechild of Classical and Rock mixed with Celtic blood and that’s Affiniti, the internationally renowned female trio from Dublin, Ireland. The trio returns to open our third season with guest performances by Howard Crosby (Bing’s nephew!)

January 31 Mousai Remix
Four-inch heels and bows flying: Mousai Remix returns! What better way to ring in the New Year than with perennial favorites Mousai Remix? They are fierce, beautiful, perfectly balanced, and utterly charming—a string quartet as a force of nature. Mendelssohn and Schumann never had it so good.

February 21 In Mulieribus
The distinguished all-women a cappella vocal ensemble In Mulieribus will exploit the wonderful acoustics of the Provincial House chapel with a greatly varied program of music written long ago, music written very recently by women composers, and beguiling love songs for all of us. So right, indeed, for a place built by women!

March 13 Nancy Ives
Experience Nancy Ives, the principal cellist of the Oregon Symphony, in a program of her favorite works with her special musical colleagues. She’s intimate as a Sarabande from a Bach unaccompanied suite, powerful as a speeding Rachmaninoff allegro giocoso, and intriguing as a Brahms adagio.

April 10 – Ida Rae Cahana
Whether in her weekly role as senior cantor of Portland’s Temple Beth Israel or headlining with Pink Martini or her myriad concert appearances as a wonderful soprano, Ida Rae Cahana brings a special magic to a remarkably wide range of music—including wonderful Jewish melodies. Bill Crane on piano along with many collaborators.

May 15 Susan DeWitt Smith
Portland pianist Susan DeWitt Smith, a professor at Lewis and Clark College, performs in a solo program of gripping virtuosity and tender sentiment. Endlessly sought out by other distinguished musicians for collaboration, including long-time colleagues in Third Angle, adored by her students, and universally noted for her peerless lyricism at the keyboard, Susan gives reason to love the solo piano all over again.

June 12 The Musical Emergency Response Team
The Musical Emergency Response Team returns to our stage with their dramatic mix of chamber music, a vocal quartet, and a slightly larger than usual dose of insouciance and courage in music for perhaps a dozen players in various combinations. A thrilling conclusion to this year’s series – with plenty Francis Poulenc to keep everyone happy!
