Susan received a degree from Santa Clara University in Marketing and worked for Eastman Kodak Company in sales and support for over 10 years. With her family, she then relocated to Oregon where her relationship with the Holy Names Sisters began in 2001. With four young children in tow, she would visit with the Sisters. Little did her family know, Mary’s Woods would become a “second home”, blessing them with the gift of hospitality and welcome. Susan became a graduate student in the Masters of Divinity program at Marylhurst University which she completed in 2010. During this time, she started as an intern at Mary’s Woods in 2006 and has been formally part of the Spiritual Care Department since 2007. She was named the Director of Spiritual Care in 2020. With the encouragement of the SNJM community, Susan answered a call to become a SNJM Associate in 2019.
With much gratitude and reverence, Susan fully embraces the mission of Mary’s Woods through her sense of compassion and integrity. She helps people find courage, hope and meaning, while offering emotional and spiritual support as they travel along their unique spiritual journey.
