Mary’s Woods is proud to announce that its Wellness Department will offer a new form of T’ai Chi as part of its array of health and wellness programs.

T’ai Chi is an ancient system of exercise that stimulates and balances the vital force energy known as chi. It is often referred to as the “longevity exercise.” Practicing T’ai Chi is known to enhance health and fitness.

“A recent study at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis showed that the regular practice of T’ai Chi greatly reduced the risk of falling for seniors,” said fitness instructor Ananda Randall. “It proved to be the most beneficial of all the exercises studied, including yoga and walking for improving over-all balance.”

T’ai Chi can aid in reducing stress, increasing energy and endurance, improving balance and circulation, and improving mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Fitness instructor Ananda Randall teaches T’ai Chi on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm in the Meadowlark Room.
