Hello, my name is Amy Krause. I’m new at Mary’s Woods. I work in the Marie Rose Center therapy department where I specialize in cognitive retraining, voice treatment, and dysphagia therapy.

In my position as a Speech Language Pathologist, I work with residents during cognitive retraining to help increase memory, word finding abilities, orientation, problem solving skills, and safety awareness. There are strategies and activities that I can teach to help people stimulate brain activity and reconnect weak or damaged cells.

Remember: we keep our brains fresh by continuously challenging them in new ways. This helps to promote learning, and you can learn at any age!

Feel like you are having difficulty with the loudness or quality of your voice? Do you have any difficulty with eating or drinking? Do you know someone who coughs and chokes during meals? Do you experience trouble when trying to swallow pills? I can help.

If you are interested in receiving an assessment for any issue concerning cognition, voice, or safety of swallow you can contact me at the therapy department to schedule an evaluation (Call 503- 636-0235). I look forward to meeting you, learning more about your condition, and working with you to address your needs. My goal is to make every day difficulties a little bit easier for you!
