Honoring Our Veterans

Honoring Those Who Served

October 30, 2017

Mary’s Woods is home and workplace of veterans of all branches of the armed forces who have served from World War II until the present day, in peacetime and during war. The commitment shown by these heroes warrants celebration year round. However, Veterans Day, held each year on November 11, is a special time for our nation to pause and honor the men and women in a distinctive way.

Because Veterans Day 2017 falls on a Saturday, Mary’s Woods will hold a very special Veterans Day ceremony on Friday, November 10, at 2pm in the Chapel of the Holy Names. We look forward to a meaningful service filled with special music, roll call, a reading of excerpts from the Presidential Proclamation, prayer, and much more.

“We honor all veterans for their sacrifice and cour age, understanding they did not seek such honor but have earned our praise with their pledge to protect our nation,” said Diane Hood. “They are truly among the country’s finest.”
